West Kortright Center Film Festival 2024

Set in the rolling hills at the heart of Upstate New York’s Delaware County, The West Kortright Center Film Festival celebrates films of the arts, music & live performance, and rural & farming culture of the Catskills and around the world. 

Dates: August 23-25, 2024

Formats: Short films of all genres under 45 minutes in length. Select features BY INVITATION ONLY. 

Subjects: As an arts center serving a rich rural and farming community, The West Kortright Center Film Festival gives special consideration to local films and works that explore and celebrate country life in our communities and around the world. That said, we are also open to all types of filmic expression, narrative, experimental, and documentary from anywhere and everywhere.

Submission Dates & Deadlines:

Submissions Open: February 1st, 2024.

Earlybird Deadline: March 11th, 2024

Regular Deadline: April 8th, 2024

Late Deadline: May 10th, 2024

Final Deadline: May 28th, 2024

Notification Date: June 15th, 2024

Screenings & Talk Backs will take place at the historic West Kortright Center in East Meredith, New York, in both the intimate indoor space on the mainstage of the Center and on the lawn at the Center’s outdoor screening area.

Reception Opening reception and closing night awards ceremony will be held at the Center. 

Filmmaker Talkbacks/Q&As & Panel Discussions – opportunities to hear from filmmakers and panel discussions on craft and the business of filmmaking will take place each day of the festival.

Notifications – All selected films and award nominees will be notified by June 15th 2024, with award recipients revealed at the festival’s closing ceremony.

SUBMISSION RULES:

Rules & Terms

1) All films must have completed post-production AFTER January 1, 2023.

2) Films must be in English or have English subtitles.

3) Special Premiere status not required. Films that have screened at other festivals are eligible.

4) Deliverable format: All films submitted must have screenable project files downloadable from FilmFreeway. If not available on FilmFreeway, full resolution files in 4K Apple ProRes 422 Must be provided. Films will be screened in digital 4K, with stereo sound.

5) Submitting filmmakers/individuals will be notified by e-mail on or before June 15, 2024.

6) Entry fees are in U.S. dollars, per film entry, and are non-refundable.

7) A filmmaker with multiple entries (titles) must submit each entry separately.

8) Submitting films and filmmakers understand they are not entitled to any of the ticket sales, concession sales, merchandise sales, or other revenue made at the venue.

9) Films submitted may have excerpts selected by WKCFF staff for festival promotional purposes.
